Act 1 Chapter 4 - Castle
Audrey was in her Onesie, one could consider it her uniform those days, she rarely wore anything else unless some actual business pops up. She was sat up next to Zayne, her eyes wide with confusion and unrestrained shock. She looked to the door where Rosa was, and then back and Zayne, she was told to show Zayne to his room. A gargantuan task for a girl like her. She slumped against Zayne languidly, “Piggyback…I’ll guide you” This was her grand proposition. She hadn’t changed a bit, though usually she’d ask Azalea to carry her around when we were kids, but neither of us knew where she was. Zayne sighs a deep, yet affectionate sigh. A sigh that you would give when you indulge a pet.
With a soft grunt, Zayne hoists Audrey onto his back, and makes sure she’s secure before walking out the room. “Alright, where to Audrey?” Zayne asks calmly, hearing no reply he looks to his left, Audrey’s hair had become a full baby blue, when usually her hair was brown with blue tips. “Are you kidding Audrey, you’re Viced right now?” Zayne sounded incredulous, then eased into being unbothered. He walked aimlessly through the halls, they felt familiar from when he was younger. The halls were white like the decrepit infirmary they were just in. They used large castle bricks, the ceiling had stylish, golden arches with that same Teserian motifs, but there were glowing engravings in the arches that certainly weren’t there before. Between the bricks there were windows, with golden framework that lit up the hallways with natural morning light.
Zayne looks out of the window, the courtyard was heptagonal in design. In the center there was a fight going on, a line of soldiers were there, looking at each other nervously. The eye of the storm was of course, Azalea. Her hair was a bright, shimmering violet. Her face was that of a demonic angel, her lust for blood could be felt all the way through the window. She carried a sword that was twice the size of her arms, with a glowing red crystal in its chunky cross-guard, barely visible from the window. Zayne knew it was most definitely his fault, he took three steps backwards in fear. “Greed signs your sins, soldiers” Zayne murmurs a prayer under his breath as he walks away, making sure to avoid windows as best as he could. He was currently in the Sloth part of the castle, he could tell because of the carpet littered with the Sloth Insignia. “Still tacky” He said as he kept moving.
He walked to the end of the hall where the angle of hall changed, and the insignia blended into the next. The insignia here was his own, Greed. “Upstairs, fifth room from the left of the staircase” Audrey sleepily mumbled into his ears before falling asleep again. He found the nearest staircase, then walked up one floor, his father’s room was somewhere on this floor. The thought entered his head for a moment before he simply went and opened his door. The first thing he saw was the robe of the Emerald King.
“Bastard knew the whole time..” Zayne deposited Audrey onto his bed before looking at the tattered robe. It was proof of his past, he thought it was lost to time five years ago, but it’s here, in his room. The left breast of the black tattered robe had an emerald design on it. Green tendrils stemmed from that emerald and wrapped around the back of the robe, a silent symbol of how Greed consumed him. It was also a grim reminder of the man he had sentenced to death by arriving in Tesera. He sat silently in the chair beside his bed, there was a large desk with books already there. On the top there was his stave, with a note that was bright pink:
“Hello! I’m Fae! Your new best friend! And Little Sister! I heard you were pathetic! Dad said so! This toy looked very fun, but I can’t use it!” There was a drawing next to that statement, it was a sad, stupidly detailed kitten. “Please, please please come to the lab soon! I want to see what it can do!” Each exclamation mark was bubbled. This kid was certainly weird but it was hard to believe that it was the same as the girl who tossed him into that other world. “Wasn’t this girl the one who invented that Myra thing? How come she couldn’t use it” He thought, things just didn’t make sense. He looked at the note there were instructions next to it as to her location, it seemed that the old library had been converted into a lab, and there was a library built elsewhere. He got up slowly, to his right there was a new robe, Teserian, an undershirt and some trousers. It was official wear for leaders. A black robe with green accents, before he could get dressed however there was a loud crash.
The door, which he closed just mere minutes ago was laid on top of his desk. Zayne turned around slowly, Audrey was still somehow asleep. The figure that stood before him had violet hair and was seething “A-azalea, we can talk about this…” Zayne gulped. Perhaps it was better if he was executed.
