Icarus

A Study in Rigging and Graphic Design

A quick project focused on learning Advanced Skeleton, rigging, skinning, graphics design and marvellous designer. I was inspired by old school movie posters, Greek inspirations and even classic games for the model. Rigging and skinning has been on the top of my to learn list so I'm really excited to have done this project! I think it has helped a lot, and I've even started to rig some of my other models with a bit more complexity and lower topology. Recently I've been trying to get more into graphic design too, 2D has never been one of my biggest skills but Photoshop is really intuitive.

In this project I used, ZBrush for the character sculpt and retopology, Maya for UV unwrapping, skinning and rigging, Marvellous Designer for the towel, Substance Painter and Substance Designer for texturing, Unreal Engine and Marmoset Toolbag for rendering, Photoshop for post-processing.

I think Icarus as a character is perfect for a film or short film, a docudrama featuring him(in the same vein as BlackBerry or The Social Network), and his story would be interesting to watch especially if Daedulus narrated it as someone who was with him throughout the entire story.
